Indian for a week

okay... so the new blog is in coming, but while that is in progress, here is a bit of what I've been doing lately. I went to my good friend's ginormous, four-day Indian wedding, in which I ate unlimited MOUNDS of DEEP-FRIED FOOD and subsequently gained 10000 pounds (it was glorious). I also got to wear lots of colourful, jeweled Indian suits, which I LOVED. It made me want my own Indian wedding, SERIOUSLY.

By the end of the week, I had finally learned that all the food served during the first 2-3 hours were only the APPETIZERS (pictured below). That didn't stop me from filling up my plate though. Look at all that DEEP-FRIED GOODNESS.

After consuming all those appetizers, dinner was served!

Everyone was dressed in such vibrant colours... I want to get my own suit/sari!

Oh and since some of the wedding events were on game-days, the wedding was shown on one TV, and the Canucks (WINNING) was shown on the other. =)

Best quote of the week went to my friend who summed up my continual awe of the wedding glamour by saying:
"You are an indian stuck in a chinese body"...

yes... yes I am.

To those of you wondering, I have not forgotten about this blog. My blog is in the process of reconstructive surgery - aka. getting a new face so that kwokskreations is transported into oblivion and the new one resurfaces as an unrecognizable, improved version of this one. haha. No, but seriously - be patient my little grasshoppers, because I am moving addresses soon, and I hope that you will continue to follow me =)

For now, here is a peek at what I will be putting on my new blog...

beautiful, sunshiny days...
hungry piggies looking for a treat...
blank canvases begging to be painted on...
 sad, outdated 90's nostalgia...
 juicy burgers galore...
  tempting sweets...
 cupcake crafts and donut cushions...
my beloved thrift-store treasures...
...and hopefully, friends to share all these adventures with. =)

So, FRIEND, I would love to have you visit my new site... I'll post the link here in a few days!

Clearly, the randomness has not left - it will only get more random from here.

You have been warned.

=)

blog lagging

Okay... seriously, I feel lethargic like Mikey here (yes, I stalk him when he's sleeping. I'm a creeper like that).  I'm pretty much lagging behind in posting the random stuff on my blog that I would LIKE to be posting, but HAVE NOT, for whatever reason. I no longer have sporadic, itching, 3AM urges to work on this blog... maybe it's because I've actually been trying to sleep before 1:00am these days. I feel like my blog is messy and awkward and random and chaotic and disorganized. like my LIFE. Aghh!! Anyway, I shall try to post something worth reading soon, in more sane proportions.

Okay bye.

BLAHHHHHH!!!!! CHAOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Piggies in Portland

Hiii everyone! I'm back from Portland and I wish I were still there. Since I am in vacation withdrawal phase, here are some pictures from my trip for your viewing pleasure...

On our vacation, we feasted like pigs.

Here we have Pok Pok's famous Fish-Sauce Chicken Wings + Catfish dish!
(if you haven't been to Pok Pok, you should go!)

We also went shopping... (as shown by my new necklace here)...

...and we visited the Tillamook Cheese Factory... which also conveniently sold ice-cream.

I love the architecture and style of the old buildings in downtown Portland...

...and I also love the ginormous restroom indicators at the outlet mall
that I just had to androgynously pose with.

Overall, the weather was quite sunny while we were there,
and cherry blossoms were blooming everywhere!

I hope all the coming weekends are this fabulous.

In the end, the moments I enjoyed most were the simple ones - like singing along with the radio
during the long car rides or taking an after-dinner stroll in a quaint little neighborhood
where time seemed to linger, just for awhile.

For Lent, I'm giving up... POTATOES!!!!!

For those of you who are not familiar with this Christian tradition, Lent is the season before Easter. Lent is a time of growth and simplicity - it's kind of like "spring cleaning" (actually, Lent comes from the Germanic word for springtime)<-- wikipedia!! It's a time to clean out those things in our lives that can often take up too much of our time, or take a priority over our relationship with God. I know some people are giving up TV, or Facebook, or websurfing on their iPhones during this time. Since I don't watch TV, don't go on Facebook regularly, and don't own an iPhone (remember? I'm a grandma from the 60's), I've decided to give up potatoes for 40 days. For those of you who know me well, potatoes are like my DAILY DIET... that and burgers. I honestly do need to eat more healthy foods since I was bred on Mr. Noodles my whole life, so this will be a good opportunity to change my insanely bad eating habits. HELP!

I started the fast from potatoes yesterday, and I'm already in withdrawal mode (which is probably why I photoshopped potatoheads (see previous post)...
it's to compensate for the lack of potatoes/fries/chips consumption.

Anyway, please support me and my Potato Fast in these 2 ways:
1) If you see me, remind me not to eat potatoes!
2) DO NOT eat potatoes in front of me... or I will kill you. just kidding!!!

(but not really).

Life is Beautyfull =)

I drew this while I was in class today... (too funny: my prof was sleeping during her own guest speaker's presentation... HAHAHA!) Actually, my friend and I tried to take a picture of her with an iPhone, but she was too far away. Anyway, back to the picture: I actually drew it with black pen on white paper, and then I went home and photoshopped it to death.

thankfulness

This weekend has been super crazy-busy... I went and took my grad pics, celebrated my brother's birthday, and finally wrote up a resume (after 3 months of procrastination). This weekend was also full of ups-and-downs for me as I tried to get my priorities and basically my LIFE in order. Not to mention the Tornado Zone aka. MY ROOM... the definition of DISORDER. (One day, I will show you pictures of my living conditions and you will all be massively horrified).

Anyway, in the midst of my mental mess, I was reminded by my good friend Jamie Jellow with the image below to not just live life, but to live life well.

I still think writing resumes is pure torture and my room will forever remain a pigsty but a happy lardball of a pig I will be, as I try to be thankful for all the little things that I'm blessed with. =)

Party in "THE USA"

Okay. So I realize that lately I have not been doing many ART posts... which is the main purpose of this blog... but I have been too busy studying like a madwoman to make any art worth showing... so you will have to bear with posts about my LIFE until then.

This past week I went on a little adventure with my dad down to Point Roberts (aka. the little section of the States that you can only get to by driving through Canada)... ALSO known as the place of cheap gas, one American supermarket, and nothing much else. It started with me intending to go down by myself to pick up a rug that I had shipped to an American address (shipping to Canada = $40, shipping  to the States = $7!!!) you do the math. But my dad wanted to tag along to experience "THE USA", as he calls it.

So I finally trumped his life-long misconception that "the States is far and dangerous" because 40 minutes later, we were across the border and I had already picked up my rug. My dad then proceeded to explore the uncharted territories of Point Roberts and persuaded me to drive all the way down to the end where the land meets the deep blue sea.

It was the sunniest day we'd had in months. Look at how blue the sky is in this one... (not even Photoshopped!)

My dad was in a good mood so I forced tactfully persuaded him to take creeper pictures behind poles...

Since we were randomly exploring anyway, we also checked out the supermarket... seriously, there are SO MANY MORE FLAVOURS for everything than there is in Canada. And... there were also controversial items that I've never seen sold in Canada...

These made me laugh... then shake my head... then pull out my camera to document the hilarity...

So overall, it was a great trip - Mission Accomplished - on so many levels; I got my rug (yay! see below!), made my dad unknowingly take creeper pictures, found racist salad dressing...what more could I ask for? BEST RANDOM DAY TRIP EVER.
