the last post

I started Kwok's Kreations with no real purpose in mind except as a place to post some of my old/current art and motivate myself to keep creating things and not become brain-dead with boredom. And now it is time to move to my NEW blog. I've put a bit more thought into what I wanted this new blog to be like, and I realized that I wanted to keep making art and cartoons and posting the things that I dream up, but also wanted to write about my real life adventures and random things that happen (why not?). So I present to you, my new blog:

UP IN THE CLOUDS

I chose this name because I'm always daydreaming and having my head stuck up in the clouds when I'm supposed to be on the ground. So anyway, I will be writing my first post tomorrow at this new address:

I hope you'll still keep following me and taking part in my random adventures =)

always a fan =)

After the Stanley Cup final and the riots, this message says it all.

On my other blog, I wrote a little rant about it all, which you can read here.

Otherwise, cheers to an awesome season for the Canucks, and here's to another great season next year.

=)

Boston Beware.

This image is a bit premature, but when the Canucks win the cup this year, you shall see me hoisting a hockey stick in the air with a teddy bear impaled on it. Gruesome I know. But necessary? Yes.

GO CANUCKS GO!!!

Cut the Rope Pillow

From one of my previous posts, I gave a little peek of something green and furry that I made. So here it is...

TA DA!!!

It's a pillow of that little green creature from CUT THE ROPE (What's his name? I don't know). I said I was going to do a tutorial, but really, I made so many mistakes while making this pillow, I can't even tell you how I made it. haha. The green furry fabric was the BAIN OF MY EXISTENCE. It shed like a DOG and was like DEATH to work with. I would suggest using green fleece fabric instead. The whole process was just pure experimentation and continually correcting failure. I think it turned out okay for my first pillow... (first and last!!!) Never again. never again.

Indian for a week

okay... so the new blog is in coming, but while that is in progress, here is a bit of what I've been doing lately. I went to my good friend's ginormous, four-day Indian wedding, in which I ate unlimited MOUNDS of DEEP-FRIED FOOD and subsequently gained 10000 pounds (it was glorious). I also got to wear lots of colourful, jeweled Indian suits, which I LOVED. It made me want my own Indian wedding, SERIOUSLY.

By the end of the week, I had finally learned that all the food served during the first 2-3 hours were only the APPETIZERS (pictured below). That didn't stop me from filling up my plate though. Look at all that DEEP-FRIED GOODNESS.

After consuming all those appetizers, dinner was served!

Everyone was dressed in such vibrant colours... I want to get my own suit/sari!

Oh and since some of the wedding events were on game-days, the wedding was shown on one TV, and the Canucks (WINNING) was shown on the other. =)

Best quote of the week went to my friend who summed up my continual awe of the wedding glamour by saying:
"You are an indian stuck in a chinese body"...

yes... yes I am.

To those of you wondering, I have not forgotten about this blog. My blog is in the process of reconstructive surgery - aka. getting a new face so that kwokskreations is transported into oblivion and the new one resurfaces as an unrecognizable, improved version of this one. haha. No, but seriously - be patient my little grasshoppers, because I am moving addresses soon, and I hope that you will continue to follow me =)

For now, here is a peek at what I will be putting on my new blog...

beautiful, sunshiny days...
hungry piggies looking for a treat...
blank canvases begging to be painted on...
 sad, outdated 90's nostalgia...
 juicy burgers galore...
  tempting sweets...
 cupcake crafts and donut cushions...
my beloved thrift-store treasures...
...and hopefully, friends to share all these adventures with. =)

So, FRIEND, I would love to have you visit my new site... I'll post the link here in a few days!

Clearly, the randomness has not left - it will only get more random from here.

You have been warned.

=)

blog lagging

Okay... seriously, I feel lethargic like Mikey here (yes, I stalk him when he's sleeping. I'm a creeper like that).  I'm pretty much lagging behind in posting the random stuff on my blog that I would LIKE to be posting, but HAVE NOT, for whatever reason. I no longer have sporadic, itching, 3AM urges to work on this blog... maybe it's because I've actually been trying to sleep before 1:00am these days. I feel like my blog is messy and awkward and random and chaotic and disorganized. like my LIFE. Aghh!! Anyway, I shall try to post something worth reading soon, in more sane proportions.

Okay bye.

BLAHHHHHH!!!!! CHAOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I've been Working On...

Do you recognize where this furry green creature is from?

A "tutorial" on how I made this is coming soon.

...and by tutorial I mean a documentation of my failed attempts at sewing.

T-Shirts + Paint

This week has been busy (again, my usual excuse for not posting regularly). I actually like blogging because when I do it often, it usually means I have time to relax and make art during my free time. Anyway, if you are one of my beloved blog stalkers <3 you should know by now that when I'm busy, I resort to posting more old relics of the past. So here, to relive some of, their former glory, are some of my t-shirt designs from awhile back:

"Rock Paper Scissors" (Size: S)

"Beware the Muffin Man" (Size: S)

"Smiling Sushi!"

For those of you who were wondering, I bought fabric paint online from Deco Art (www.decoart.com) and painted the designs on 100% cotton, blank white t-shirts (after washing them once). The designs are machine-washable inside-out, in cold or warm water.

Reunited with Potatoes Once Again!!!

By the way, this past Sunday (Easter) was my last day of fasting potatoes for Lent! So when I could finally eat potatoes, I went to lunch with a couple of friends with the full intention of ordering the scrumptious spud. I ordered "Baked Chicken on Rice with Portuguese Sauce", a dish that always comes with POTATOES. But no... the restaurant that I went to was a MASSIVE FAIL and my meal turned out to be a large mound of rice with a sad shriveled excuse of a chicken cutlet topped with a thick barf-coloured sauce that smelled just like it looked (hungry yet?) Ironically I had gone to another restaurant with my parents the night before, and my mom had ordered the exact same thing - and it had come with potatoes galore!

After that anti-climatic experience, I overcompensated today by going to McDonald's on two separate occasions - once to get a junior chicken burger, and later on to get a LARGE FRIES that I ate all by myself in all of its greasy, glorious, golden goodness. Mr. Potato joined in on my little feast too...

Oh, and side note: After eating those fries, I ate six tacos. Yes... today was a good day indeed.

Hot Millions

In my last post, I mentioned drawing something with loads of CHALK. The project that I worked on last week was helping my friend design the menu boards for her family's pizza place, Hot Millions Café, in Surrey, B.C. (see their location and reviews here at Urban Spoon).

For the menu boards, we used coloured chalk pastels and worked for around 5 hours. All the chalkboards were already installed near the ceiling, so we had to get used to drawing upright while standing on a small table (there were a few moments where I lost my balance and almost fell off but miraculously I was still unscathed at the end of the night). It was super fun and of course the best part was eating the amazingly delicious pizza!!!

Here are some pictures...

I loved the bright decor of the place - it felt so warm and cozy.

Look at the size of that BEAST (I'm referring to the pizza above). Honestly, $8.99 is an insanely low price for the quality and size of pizza that you can get at Hot Millions.

Below are some pictures of all the menu boards that we worked on:

Aside from pizza, they also have pasta, wings, and stir-fry (I was tempted to try everything)...

And of course, what is a Kwok's Kreations post without something completely random? Here is Greasy Grewal and I, taking a break from working to strike a pose. Good times =)

Project Preview

This past week I was asked to help with an "art project" by my good friend, Greasy Grewal (really, she doesn't mind that I call her that... or does she? ...) haha... too late! The nickname lives on! Anyway, I shall post pictures soon but here is a preview of what the project consisted of...

CHALK, CHALK, and more CHALK...

I quite liked the colourful residue that was left behind at the end. The chalk dust was so bright and appealing that it almost looked EDIBLE. But no, in case you were wondering... I didn't go that far.

miscellaneous objects

I have a tendency to leave a whole pile of random objects on my bed (in my defense, I put them there so I know exactly where to find them). Below are just some of the things you might find lying around...

A few days ago, I came into my room and found...

THIS.

I must say, to whoever the culprit was, it was creepy... but creative.

(just the way I like it!)

Introducing... Miss Cupcake!

Recently, I've had more time to devote to art, so I'm excited to take a break from school for awhile and just... create! For the past few days, I've been working on a few mini art projects here and there. I shall try to be diligent and post my little monsters soon.

Anyway, it's been awhile since the last Foodie Bag creation was released (the Diner Dash bag), but Mr. Moustache-Burger was feeling lonely and he needed a female counterpart. So here she is in all her feminine glory...

Mr. Burger seems very happy...

... a little TOO happy...

Going along with the burger + cupcake theme, this post reminded me of a painting I made last year.

These creations were made for the REAL MISS CUPCAKE - the talented baker who made THIS monstrosity below... (I'm so proud of her dessert-making skills ... mainly because I get to taste-test! haha just kidding... but not really.) Isn't it so deliciously amazing?

...and finally, since I just could not resist while we're on a roll with all the cupcake shenanigans, I cannot help but feel the urge to make this creepster pose every time I see cupcakes... and as evidence shows, this has been attempted on various occasions. (left: last year on my birthday, right: at a wedding).

For more cupcake eye-candy, click here. For the rest of you who have had enough of this sugar overload, enjoy the rest of your day, my sweeties (*gag*).

I will be posting more randomness in awhile!
